Masters of Arts in Christian Formation (MACF)
Earn a Masters of arts in Christian Formation (MACF) through North Park Seminary in partnership with the Pacific Southwest Conference (PSWC). Pastors who have completed an MACF are eligible for ordination in the Covenant.
IGNITE is an affordable cohort-based pathway to a seminary degree in four years. The IGNITE experience brings the academic excellence of North Park Seminary into partnership with a “Friends on Mission” culture.
Each academic year includes Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer studies. Typically, classes meet early in the term for one week of face-to-face instruction with your professor. The exception is the “online only” class held each Spring. Fall and Summer courses meet at Mission Springs Camp and Conference Center in Santa Cruz, CA. The Winter courses are held in conjunction with the Covenant’s Midwinter Conference, which rotates locations.

Mission Springs Partnership
Mission Springs, our Covenant Camp, graciously discounts the cost of food and lodging at camp during the week of instruction. Some call the week-long experience, “Seminary Camp!” We share meals, class time, and in the evening explore fun things to do in Santa Cruz.
During the Mission Springs week, the Pacific Southwest Conference Staff is onsite to experience moments in class, share a meal, and talk about life and ministry.
IGNITE Students may drive to Santa Cruz or fly into the San Jose, San Francisco, or Oakland airports.
The cost for food and lodging at Mission Springs each September and May is $250/student.
MidWinter registration is $100 for class/event fee. Food and lodging are the student’s responsibility. In the past, students have shared hotel rooms or rented an AirBnB, and cooked meals in community.
A New Way to Fund Seminary Education
North Park’s 50% Discount + The Student + Your Covenant Church + The PSWC + The ECC = Tuition & Class Payment
The low cost of the IGNITE is made possible because of the friendship and partnerships that exist in the Covenant. Below is a breakdown of how Covenant entities contributes to an IGNITE student’s tuition.
North Park Seminary has graciously given each IGNITE student a 50% discount off the normal seminary tuition.
Each IGNITE Student is responsible for paying $2,000 a year in tuition/class fees.
The Sponsoring Covenant Church is responsible for paying $2,000 a year in tuition/class fees on behalf of the student.
The Pacific Southwest Conference & The Evangelical Covenant Church each contribute funds that offset and subsidize the costs incurred by each IGNITE student.
Additional Fees apply throughout the degree process. See directly below.
